Question: I’m in need of some assistance. I’m replacing one of the large posts supporting my log cabin deck. I’m looking at the new log (53 inches long and about a foot in diameter) and it is not very square/level on the top or bottom. How do I go about at least making the base level?
Answer: Most times concrete can be used to level an area or footing. If you set the post on concrete, consider using a post base/spacer to keep the log off the surface of the cement. Also be sure and use a rot resistant log species such as cedar if the log is out in the weather.

Hope this helps.
